Undertones - Much Too Late b/w Another Girl  7"
Derry punk legends The Undertones release their 15th single (and their first since 2003) as a special strictly limited 7" for Record Store Day 2013. The A-side, Much Too Late, and flip, When It Hurts I Count To Ten, were recorded last month at the world-famous Toe Rag Studios in London (White Stripes, Billy Childish). These two tracks are the first Undertones recordings since their acclaimed album, Dig Yourself Deep, in 2007. In the year of the Good Vibrations movie, celebrating the Belfast label that served as an antidote to The Troubles, the single is a powerful and brilliant reminder of the timeless, unmatchable magic of the 7" vinyl disc. It will be available only on that format on Dublin's Flaming June Records in a strictly limited run of 1,000 copies. Hard to beat

"'Bryter Later', originally released in 1970, is getting the same treatment as 'Pink Moon', Drake's third and final album, when it was reissued last year. It has been remastered at Abbey Road from master tapes by the album's original engineer John Wood. Although the first generation master tapes were found to be unusable, Wood had made a safety copy of the album in 1970 and it is from this that the new album has been struck. The vinyl comes in an Island card inner bag in a single pocket textured sleeve, just as the original release would have done. In addition it is housed in a box containing a copy of the original shop poster, a smaller 'Live' poster/brochure and a reprint of Nick's handwritten setlist together with reproductions of the master tape reel and tape box lids." - NME

The Velvet Underground were arguably at their live peak in late 1969. Lou Reed, Sterling Morrison, Maureen Tucker and Doug Yule (who'd replaced John Cale a full year previously) had developed into a sensationally tight and adventurous quartet, and this show -- the first of two recorded on consecutive nights before a tiny audience in Dallas, Texas -- is unquestionably one of the finest surviving documents of them in performance. Remastered sound and background notes included on printed insert.

"Silence Yourself" is the highly anticipated debut from London’s Savages, an all-female four-piece who play music with scything energy and brutal power. Released through Matador Records / Pop Noire, "Silence Yourself" was recorded at north-west London’s Fish Factory during a three week period in December 2012, and is produced by Johnny Hostile and Rodaidh McDonald (The xx). Clocking in at 38 minutes, "Silence Yourself" opens with an excerpt from the John Cassavetes film ‘Opening Night’, and features brand new recordings of ‘Husbands’, ‘I Am Here’ and ‘City’s Full’ - first heard on their debut single ‘Husbands / Flying To Berlin’ and the ‘I Am Here’ live EP - both previously released on singer Jehnny Beth’s label, Pop Noire. Limned in black and white but containing a swell of different emotions within its self-imposed strictures, the songs cover topics from masochism ("Hit Me"), urban dread ("City’s Full"), materialism, possessivenes and the experience of being a woman ("Husbands," "I Am Here"). Every one delivered with a fierce conviction. Initial LP pressing will be on limited edition UK import clear vinyl.

Daniel Lanois - Acadie (2LP 180gr gatefold)
Acadie was inspired by a move from Canada to New Orleans, and sublime recording sessions with the Neville Brothers (Yellow Moon) and Dylan. Daniel's debut album as a recording artist was released in 1989. It is a stunning blend of styles, fusing Cajun, rhythm and blues, rock and new age ambience, taking influence from many of Lanois' recent production works. Most noticeably among those are Peter Gabriel's So, plus Robbie Robertson, the Neville Brothers and U2, members of whom appear in the stellar line up of musicians here. This deluxe redesigned LP reissue includes the classic album plus seven unreleased gems from the vault, all remastered from the original tapes.
